Citizens Group Host Candidates for Buncombe County Commissioners

April 10, 2008

BUNCOMBE COUNTY NC NEWS -- Citizens for Change, is a local grassroots nonpartisan activist property rights organization working for a better community through awareness and participation in their local government. Located in Buncombe County, North Carolina, the citizens' group, comprises citizens who mostly live outside of the City of Asheville. In addition, the majority of members believe the Buncombe County Commissioners, who have traditionally lived in Asheville, focus on the needs of the city and not the surrounding areas.

The following Citizens for Change video of April's meeting, centers on guest speakers, Dr. Joe Dunn, Holly Jones and Nathan Ramsey who are all campaigning to become Buncombe County Commissioners.

Dr. Joe Dunn firmly believes that Buncombe County needs a binding referendum on countywide zoning. He further believes that Buncombe needs district elections, pledges to lower taxes, and comments on water problems in Buncombe County.

Holly Jones, who is also on the Asheville City Council, discusses her background and why she is running for County Commissioner. She calls for unity between Asheville and Buncombe County's rural communities.

Nathan Ramsey, discusses taxation, political spin, and working class people struggling to prosper in Buncombe County. Ramsey believes there should be a more responsible way to represent the people than the status quo.

Citizens for Change meets on the first Monday of every month at 6:00 p.m. Meetings are held at the Shoney's Restaurant located on US 19-23, in Enka, a small village in Buncombe County, North Carolina. For more information or to post a comment visit: www.citizensforchange.com
