Chairman Linda Daves Comments on NCGOP Ad

April 27, 2008

NC NEWS -- On April 26, 2008, during the NC 11th Congressional debate in Haywood County, Richard Bernier interviewed NC GOP Chairman Linda Daves who took time to discuss the release of North Carolina Republican Party's first ad of 2008, which opposes Richard Moore and Beverly Perdue for Governor. The ad labeled, "Extreme" by critics, including Republican presidential anomaly John McCain who claims, "The ad is not the message of the Republican party. It's not the message of my campaign."

Well, actually, the Senator is only half right. Yes, it is not the message of his campaign, but it is the message of the NC Republican Party!

According to Chairman Linda Daves, it is no secret that Barack Obama has also received scrutiny recently for his ties to controversial figures, such as his former pastor, Jeremiah Wright, and former Weather Underground terrorist, William Ayers. This ad presents a question of patriotism and judgment. It is entirely appropriate for voters to evaluate candidates based on their past associations. The people whom a candidate surrounds himself with during a campaign are the same ones that will follow that candidate into office if elected. Unfortunately, in Barack Obama's run for the White House, he has chosen to associate himself with the wrong people.

Furthermore, in Richard Bernier's interview, Chairman Davis states, "The state Republican party is just trying to challenge the Democrat candidates for governor to see if their views are in fact extreme for the people of North Carolina." The Chairman also feels that the ad is not so controversial, and its topic should be put forth before the people of North Carolina to debate.

Thus concluding, that once again the North Carolina Republican party leads in motion for transparency in government.
