U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to Host National EventAugust 20, 2007 WAKE COUNTY NC NEWS -- The United States Patent and Trademark Office will hold the 12th Annual Independent Inventors Conference at North Carolina State University, College of Textiles in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Inventors Conference provides information on marketing and licensing, intellectual property, patent and trademark searching, and the opportunity to network with fellow inventors and will be able to meet one-on-one with invention experts. This national event to be held September 14 and 15, 2007, in conjunction with North Carolina State University, College of Textiles and the National Inventors Hall of Fame® Foundation. In addition, top officials from the United States Patent and Trademark Office, including successful inventors and entrepreneurs will headline the Conference. Presenters for the 12th Annual Independent Inventors Conference include: Michael Sykes, successful inventor and winner of the 2007 Modern Marvels Invent Now® Challenge; Louis Foreman, successful inventor and CEO of Enventys and Everyday Edisons Productions; Alan Baum, President of the USA and Canada Licensing Executive Society; and Monica Doss, president of the Council for Entrepreneurial Development of North Carolina. Scheduled to appear on behalf of the United States Patent and Trademark Office at this year's conference will be Margaret J. A. Peterlin, Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Deputy Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office and Peggy Focarino, Deputy Commissioner for Patent Operations. Furthermore, a pre-conference workshop on September 13, 2007 from 5pm to 7pm, is included with registration for anyone interested in learning why patents exist and how they protect inventions. This is a basic workshop for beginners and will be repeated during the conference. Registration for this 2-day national event is now open. The fee is $100 per person for both days. The registration fee includes all sessions and presentations, morning and afternoon refreshments, lunch for both days and a networking reception on Friday evening.
