North Carolina Governor's 2008 Race Heating Up

Negative attacks by Perdue are designed to create a smoke screen to evade the real issues of how the next governor will deal with the economy, infrastructure and the heath system in North Carolina.

July 31, 2008

NC NEWS -- As North Carolina Governor's 2008 race heats up, Beverly Perdue's first television campaign advertisement is a negative attack on Pat McCrory. The Lt Governor Beverly Perdue campaign was quick to condemn the Republican Governors Association for establishing a PAC with full transparency and disclosure of contributors. Yet, Beverly Perdue has 527 contributors established in secrecy without disclosure running negative attacks. The Pat McCrory for Governor Campaign general consultant, Jack Hawke released the following statement regarding Beverly Perdue's breach of promise to broadcast positive campaign ads.

Additionally, Perdue's campaign tactics to degrade McCrory have backfired, and exposed her superficial persona. The Republican nominee for North Carolina governor, Mayor Pat McCrory, yesterday called Lt. Governor Beverly Perdue a hypocrite for accepting more than $850,000 in PAC and committee money since 2000 and then criticizing McCrory for sending a fundraising letter to PACs.

Unfortunately, these negative attacks by Perdue are designed to create a smoke screen to evade the real issues of how the next governor will deal with the economy, infrastructure and the heathcare system in North Carolina.

So as this election race heats up, all North Carolinians need now are more constructive public debates in order to make this a true general election for North Carolina governor, instead of a stone throwing match.
