McCrory Raises Over $1 million in Second Quarter

This is a historically strong amount raised by a North Carolina Republican gubernatorial nominee in the second quarter

July 11, 2008

NC ELECTION NEWS -- The McCrory for Governor campaign yesterday announced that Pat McCrory raised more than $1 million in the second quarter and reported over $700,000 cash on hand. This is a historically strong amount raised by a North Carolina Republican gubernatorial nominee in the second quarter - $600,000 more than the nominee raised in 2004 and nearly $190,000 more than the nominee raised in 2000. Below is a statement from Campaign Manager Richard Hudson:

"We are very pleased with the strong support our campaign has received from across the state. Pat has been in this race for less than six months and is already well-positioned to take his message of changing the culture of arrogance and corruption in Raleigh to the voters. He will have the financial resources necessary to win in November.

"When you consider the amount of money Pat has been able to raise in such a short time, it is easy to understand that he has momentum on his side. More than 58 percent of his contributions were made in the month of June alone.

"Lt. Gov. Perdue has been entrenched in the state government establishment for over 20 years. She has developed a well-oiled machine during the past eight years with support from every left-wing special interest group around. She will need every penny she can raise to defend her failed record presiding over an arrogant and corrupt status quo. The people of North Carolina are tired of Lt. Gov. Perdue's 'business as usual' state government and Pat McCrory will have the resources necessary to communicate his message of change."
