McCrory Leads in Race for NC Governor

Pat McCrory claims victory in yesterday's WRAL debate after exposing Bev Perdue as an elitist.

September 10, 2008

NC ELECTION NEWS -- The Republican nominee for North Carolina governor Mayor Pat McCrory, has a reportable eight-point lead in the race for NC governor. The latest poll released from SurveyUSA, conducted among 900 North Carolina adults showed McCrory favored by 49% while Bev Perdue has only has 41% of the polled North Carolinians favor. Additionally, Libertarian, Mike Munger, was chosen by 5% of the 900 surveyed and 5% remain undecided.

The SurveyUSA poll was taken between September 6 and September 8, and has a 3.9% margin of error. Also of the 900 North Carolinians surveyed, 783 were registered to vote and 671 were said they would vote in the general election. SurveyUSA poll results.

Pat McCrory said, "I am proud to have the support of so many Republicans, Democrats and Independent voters. This survey proves that this election is about issues like changing the culture of corruption in Raleigh and not about 30-second attack ads."

In another poll released last week, Democracy Corps determined that McCrory had a 6% lead over Bev Perdue. Therefore, now McCrory has gained in overall lead amongst men and women, both young and old, as well as having a 27-point lead in Charlotte the largest city in North Carolina. While on the other hand, Perdue leads in the North Carolina coastal plains and has an 8% lead among moderates.

Furthermore, Pat McCrory claimed victory in yesterday's WRAL debate when he exposed Bev Perdue for being a bias elitist. Perdue said she was concerned with Pat McCrory's support for technical training because it "creates low expectations." Pat McCrory called Perdue on her statement by saying we should honor our working people such as plumbers and electricians who "make more money than I do and for good reason" because they have important skills.

To conclude, between polling results and Bev Perdue's poor performance in last night's debate, coupled with her declination to add debates to the public forum and failure to keep her promise NOT to run negative attack ads, clearly shows her lack of favor by the people. Common actions speak louder than words, and Beverly Perdue campaign tactics are showing this proverbial adage to ring true. So, there is a strong possibility Pat McCrory will be elected North Carolina's next Governor.
