NC NEWS -- NC House Representative Marvin Lucas (Democrat), represents Cumberland County. He is a retired school Principal and Chairman of the Education Committee, Vice-Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Education Committee, and Chairman of Alcoholic Beverage Control Committee.

Representative Lucas is a strong advocate of educational funding and vet programs. He has sponsored house bills such as:

  • House Bill 236, "An Act directing the state board of education to terminate the charter of a charter school that fails to meet expected growth for seven consecutive years."
  • House Bill 2685, "An Act to require that the department of administration provide assistance to county veterans programs and to raise the amount of assistance that must be provided."
