Wachovia Bank in Charlotte Robbed

The Wachovia Bank is located 3.4 miles from Truliant Federal Credit Union robbed last month.

MECKLENBURG COUNTY NC NEWS -- On August 13, 2007, a Wachovia Bank in Charlotte was robbed by a lone gunman at around 9:50 a.m. The gunman, armed with a semi-automatic pistol, entered the bank and ordering the customers and employees to lie on the bank floor. Next, the gunman went to three of the teller windows and demanded money. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, the gunman fled the area on foot.

The gunman is described as a black male, approximately 5'5" – 5'7" in height with a medium build, and believed to be between 35 and 40 years of age. At the time of the robbery, the gunman dressed completely in black, wearing a black ski mask, black sunglasses, a black shirt, black pants, and black gloves.

The bank, a branch of Wachovia Corporation is located at 6228 Idlewild Road, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Investigators from the FBI Charlotte Safe Streets Task Force and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department who responded to the robbery and are still investigating. The FBI and Mecklenburg Police are also seeking any information that the public can provide about the robbery, or in identifying the gunman. Last month, Truliant Federal Credit Union located at 9524 Monroe Road, in Charlotte, North Carolina, was robbed by a lone male armed with a handgun. Idlewild Road intersects with Monroe Road less than 0.2 miles from the Wachovia Bank, and the Truliant Federal Credit Union is 3.4 miles south of the Wachovia Bank. The gunman in the Truliant Federal Credit Union robbery was described as a black male, approximately 5'6" to 5'9" in height, but in his late 20's to early 30's in age, and weighing approximately 150 to 160 pounds. It is still unknown at this point whether the Truliant Federal Credit Union and the Wachovia Bank robberies are related.
