Success through PartneringNovember 17, 2007 ORANGE COUNTY NC NEWS -- The 2007 September issue of North Carolina Department of Agriculture's "Goodness Grows In North Carolina Spotlight," featured the Cackalacky Condiment Company located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The "Goodness Grows In North Carolina Spotlight" is part of the "Got to be NC" marketing campaign calling attention to North Carolina companies and individuals who, "embody everything that North Carolina is about" as well as service and support the "Got to Be NC" Agricultural Marketing Initiative. The objective of the initiative is to increase the purchase and consumption of NC agricultural products.
The Spotlight honored Cackalacky Condiment and the company's President, H. Page Skelton for their relentless commitment to promoting all North Carolina food companies as well as their own product. But there is really more in the short clip in the spotlight than meets the eye. First of all, Mr. H. Page Skelton has achieved the American dream. In less than seven years Skelton has created his own product and built a full scale food processing plant, the Cackalacky Condiment Company. The product, Cackalacky Spice Sauce is a unique "All in One" blend of more than 20 natural herbs and spices including Burgundy wine, was developed from Skelton's simple idea, "Creating something that makes food taste good." Mr. Skelton's success cannot only be attributed to the sauce's great taste, but also the marketing network that the company has built with other North Carolina companies and organizations as well. The use of partnering through the "Got to be NC" initiative and private businesses have catapulted Cackalacky Spice Sauce and H. Page Skelton Sr. to be featured on television shows including:
Numerous magazines have also featured Cackalacky Spice Sauce and Skelton. All the while Skelton not only promoted his product, but North Carolina products as well, eventually leading to Mr. Skelton being honored before the U.S. House of Representatives Small Business Committee as a subject matter expert. Clearly, H. Page Skelton Sr. is well on the way to achieving the American dream, so what is Mr. Skelton's secret? A simple philosophy, "When we are out there talking about Cackalacky, we not just representing one company. We are representing everyone from our fresh ingredients' suppliers to our fellow North Carolina businesses." That's it, working as a team to market your product at every opportunity. That is also the basic idea behind the "Got to Be NC" and "One North Carolina," plan, working together as one state to prosper in a global economy. So, as we enter the holiday season and prepare for Thanksgiving, let's remember the Cackalacky Condiment Company brews and bottles Cackalacky Spice Sauce the original "All-in-One" spiced condiment topping for burgers, beans, and beyond (yes, it complements turkey). The product is available throughout North Carolina in the "Got To Be NC Products" and "local" sections of:
