CUMBERLAND COUNTY NC NEWS -- Ever so often, County NC News likes to take a look at how our boys are doing overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan. Unlike other media outlets, we have to admit, we are bias, yes, especially when it comes to the American fighting men and women of the United States. We are in favor of their mission as well as forever in their debit. In addition, in this video you may get a glimpse of your neighbors, friends or even family at work in our armed services. So, let's take a look at what is going on!

On August 4, 2007, Baker Company of the 3rd Battalion, 509th Airborne home based in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, conducted an air assault into Jasim Muhammed, Iraq. Jasim Muhammed is a small town in Iraq located on the Euphrates river. The mission's purpose was to search, capture, or destroy any Al-qaeda insurgents, HBTs, weapon caches, and IEDs.

The following video, courtesy of the Department of Defense, is of Baker Company paratroopers boarding a CH-47 helicopter, landing, searching homes and flying back to base. The air assault mission was conducted under the cover of darkness. Therefore, the footage was taken through a night vision lens.
