North Carolina Drug Card Can Save Residents Up To 75% On Prescriptions

December 11, 2007

MECKLENBURG COUNTY NC NEWS -- The North Carolina Drug Card is proud to announce that CVS Pharmacy is the preferred pharmacy for the new prescription discount program. The North Carolina discount program was launched to help the uninsured, under-insured, and Medicare participants. Medicare Part D enrollment began November 15th and this discount program is an opportunity for seniors to supplement their Part D policies - especially when they hit the "doughnut hole." The North Carolina Drug Card has no restrictions or participation requirements and is open to every resident of North Carolina!

The North Carolina Drug Card is free, ready to use, and can save residents up to 75% on their prescriptions. North Carolina residents can get a prescription discount card by downloading it from the official website at www.NorthCarolinaDrugCard.com.

Bert Melancon, Program Director of The North Carolina Drug Card, believes that this discount program is an opportunity for all residents of North Carolina. "We created this program to aid people who need assistance. As health plans are restricting coverage of some medications, we want to make sure people can afford the prescriptions that they need."

The drug discount card can be used at most pharmacies throughout the state and a complete list of participating pharmacies can be found at the www.NorthCarolinaDrugCard.com website. CVS Pharmacy, the program's preferred pharmacy, has agreed to assist anyone who is unable to download a card from the website. Customers who are aware of the North Carolina Drug Card, but are unable to print a card from the website, can ask a CVS pharmacist to fill their prescriptions using The North Carolina Drug Card.

Furthermore, "We are thrilled to have CVS as our preferred pharmacy," says Melancon, "and we look forward to working with them to help the people of North Carolina save money on their prescriptions."

The North Carolina Drug Card financially assists North Carolina residents with prescription medications. The program is made possible by the United Networks of America; one of the largest providers of value added managed care products and services in the United States with over 240,000 participating providers and 30.2 million members.
