Most Wanted Gates County Sex Offender

According to the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry, Shawn T. Butler is pending local jail.

GATES COUNTY NC NEWS -- Shawn T. Butler last known to reside at 305 Saunders Road, Gates County, North Carolina is most wanted for failing to register with the Gates County Sheriff as a convicted sex offender. Butler was convicted April 21, 2008, in Camden County of violating North Carolina General Statue 14-202.1 Taking indecent liberties with children, and sentenced to two years confinement. Butler was released on August 18, 2009, but has since failed to register as a sex offender as of November 11, 2010, according to the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry.

Butler also has tattoos on both arms, a cross on his right arm, and the initials "SB" on his left arm.

Any person who fails to register as a sex offender is guilty of a Class F felony, and any law enforcement officer who is aware of the violation are required to immediately arrest the person or seek an order for the person's arrest.
