"Operation Freebird" is a community policing operation designed to locate and apprehend most wanted suspected violators of the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registration Program. Currently, convicted sex offenders and persons convicted of certain offenses against minors who have failed to register (FTR) in accordance with NC General Statue Article 27A, are considered to have committed a Class F felony.
