Cabarrus County Country Club to Host First HorsePower Tee Shot Tour

Cabarrus County Country Club will host the first Horse Power Tee Shot Tour on May 15, 2008. NASCAR drivers', Elliott Sadler, Kyle Petty, J.J. Yeley, Brian Vickers and Stephen Leicht, will compete in this newest Golf event.

CABARRUS COUNTY NC NEWS -- Cabarrus County Country Club located in Concord, North Carolina will host the first HorsePower Tee Shot Tour (HTST) on May 15, 2008. NASCAR drivers', Elliott Sadler, Kyle Petty, J.J. Yeley, Brian Vickers and Stephen Leicht, will compete in this newest golf event. Located just several miles from the Lowe's Motor Speedway, Cabarrus County Country Club will host the first event and also the final event of the golf tour on October 8, 2008. Additionally, this televised event should draw racing and golf fans alike to watch their favorite NASCAR drivers and power golf players compete to deliver an exciting show.

A series of six power ball events, the HorsePower Tee Shot Tour will pair NASCAR personalities with the most prolific golf ball drivers in the world. Using only USGA-approved drivers, all play will be generated from a tee box located on an actual golf hole. Ten-yard scoring segments start at 200 yards through 400 yards with each segment increasing by 25 points. Shots outside the grid do not earn any points!

Phil Geiger, General Manager of Cabarrus County Country Club commented on what the players can expect when they step up to the #1, 535-yard hole on the green, "The first hole is an excellent opportunity to let the shaft out. It's a reachable par five with a slight dogleg to the right 300 yards off the tee. Big hitters can challenge the corner with a high, soaring tee shot over the trees that guard the corner at 325 yards. Drives of 400 yards are possible if you are willing to "let the big dog eat." It will be exciting to say the least."

John Mamoudis, President of HorsePower Sports Marketing said, "The daylong event offers something of interest for everyone. We start the day off with a Pro-Am tournament in the morning, where host club members and guest, HTST corporate sponsors and Speed Channel representatives will play 18 holes of golf with the Power Golf professionals. Prior to the 8:00 p.m. competition tee time, the crowd can view sponsor displays, sample sponsor products, grab a bite to eat and watch their favorite players warm-up for the big event. It's going to be a great day!"

Finally, HorsePower Tee Shot Tour events, will be broadcast on SPEED TV in one-hour time slots, and will be rebroadcast three times per event.
